We enjoyed one of the first big snowstorms of the winter yesterday. Today the sun is out and the world is blanketed in shimmering white.
This weekend the US National Toboggan Championships happen here in Camden, Maine–a big event that draws thousands and livens up our winter season. It’s a party! (Think costumes, tail-gating, food vendors, and fast sleds.) The local ski area, the Camden Snow Bowl, hosts this extravaganza, as well as providing great family skiing on all this fresh snow.
The wonderful thing about this special part of Maine in winter, however, is that it offers fun AND serenity, carnival AND quiet…
You can snowshoe in Camden Hills State Park, enjoy the snow-covered beauty of downtown Camden at night, sample whiskey at our own Scottish pub, experience the strange beauty of sea smoke on Camden Harbor, dine well (most area restaurants remain open through the winter, with some offering gourmet, romantic Valentines Day dinners), or snuggle up with a good book and a water view.
Come stay for a week or more in one of our beautiful Camden-area homes and see for yourself. The rates might say “off-season,” but for many, this is their favorite time to be here!
